Many teens investigate religion as a source of emotional and intellectual stimulation.
The youth want to learn the religion based on intellectual understanding and do not want to take it for granted.
They doubted religion not because they want to be agnostic or atheist, but because they want to accept religion as something meaningful based on their desire to be independent and free to set their own decisions.
