Nucleic acids are one class of biopolymers present in all living cells.
There are two classes of nucleic acids:
A. ribo nucleic acid (RNA) are outside the cell nucleus in the cytoplasm
B. deosida ribonucleic acid (DNA) present in the cell nucleus.
Monomer of nucleic acids are nucleotides. Each nucleotide consists of a pentose, a nitrogen base, and phosphoric acid.
Differences between RNA and DNA lies in its pentose. DNA consists of deoxyribose and RNA consists of ribose.
Nitrogen bases are derived from:
Purines: adenine and guanine
Pyrimidines: cytosine, uracil, and thymine.
