alkali elements

alkali elements
Elements belonging to the alkali metal is lithium (Li), Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Rubidium (Rb), Cesium (Cs) and Francium (Fr). Francium is radioactive and other properties has not been known.

a. The properties of alkali metals
- Highly reactive metallic element
- Shiny, soft, and malleable
- A lower melting point than other metals in one class
- Of heat and good electrical
- At room temperature is a solid
- The boiling point and melting point of alkali metals tends to decrease with increasing atomic number.

b. Preparation of alkali metal
Alkali metals can be obtained by electrolysis of molten salts. For example, electrolysis of molten NaCl Sodium metal is obtained.
