Sodium compounds in nature may be encountered in sea water, saltpeter chili, kreolit, coastal plants, silica. Separation of metallic sodium (Na) by the electrolysis of liquid (molten) compounds. The use of sodium are important are as follows:
- To manufacture TEL (tetra ethyl lead)
- For the manufacture of sodium compounds, such as sodium cyanide and sodium hydride
- To reduce other metal ore
- As the heat transfer in the process of cooling a nuclear reactor
- Yellow sodium vapor can penetrate the fog, so the use of vehicles in the area.
